About Tashi Dhedhenling Monastery

Tashi Dhedhenling Monastery is based in Wangbarma, Genekha, a 30 KM drive from Thimphu on the way to Paro. The present Monastery is built by H.E Trulku himself with his own fund to house around 20 monks and himself in the year 2004. It is a Nyingmapa order practicing “Konchok Chedue (Lho Ter )” the ‘Embodiment of the precious ones (Three Jewels)’.A terma (a terma is teachings, with statues

other objects, that were hidden by Guru Padmasambhava in earth, rocks, lakes and trees or even in more subtle locations such as space or mind for the sake of further generations, and then rediscovered in miraculous ways by incarnations of padmasambhava’s disciples, the treasure discoverers) cycle reveled by the great Terton( A terton is the one who discovers the Terma) Jatson Nyingpo in between the period 1585-1656 focused on Padmasambhava. The cycle of terma teaching revolves around the peaceful Guru as Yidam (Yidam is the source of accomplishment)

The Monastery amongst other observes the following rituals for the well being of all the sentient beings:

  • On every 10th and 25th of every month we conduct feast offering to Guru Rinpoche and to Khandros (Yar Ngo and Mar Ngo).
  • H.E Trulku had a long cherished aspiration to construct a separate Guru Lakhang (Main Chapel) with main stupa of “Choe Long Truel Sum ( The Guru Rinpoche (the adept), Trisong Duetsen( the king) and Shantarakshita (the abbot)) and several mini stupas, murals and wall paintings” to establish a monastic community to help in spreading the teachings of Buddha and to promote an unbroken linage practice of the “Kunchok Chidu” cycle.

The construction of Guru Lakhang will also bring peace, harmony and tranquility in the world. The construction is also to facilitate the teachings for the monks and to provide benefits to the nearby general public to perform rituals and a place for worship. It will also provide countless merits to all the sentient beings and promote unbroken lineage of the Kunchok Chidu forever. However, the aspiration of H.E Trulku to construct the Guru Lakhang remained beyond The Trulku’s dream due to the lack of funds.monastery has

been receiving continuous request from quite number of general people for the enrollment of their sons though the monastery has been denying the enrollment of the monks due to the shortage of accommodation and other monastic basic infrastructure facilities. However, the present monastery does not have proper Lakhang and other basic monastic features for the well being of the present monks and the lay people of the neighborhood as well as owing to the pressure of the enrollment from the general people, H.E Trulku was obligated to reconsider taking up construction of a separate Guru Lakhang as well as other basic infrastructure despite having no funds. The construction if materialized is to facelift the present the monastery to a full-fledged monastery with appropriate Lakhang along with basic monastic facilities to the monks. With the new infrastructures in placed, the monastery can render their service to the general public and to the sentient being by enrolling additional monks as present structure can be used solely for accommodating monks.

With the directives from H.E Trulku, the project committee of the Tashi Dhedhenling Monastery acquired the approval for the construction of the Guru Lakhang from the concerned authorities of the government. The sanctification of the ground for the construction site has been conducted by H.E Trulku, The construction however, remains to be commenced due to lack of adequate funds at the disposal of the committee. The Architects have estimated the cost of the project roughly to 5 million Ngultrum, which is a little bit over US $10,000 approximately.

H.E Trulku is looking for patrons to support in fulfilling his aspiration of constructing Guru Lakhang , The Project Committee, earnestly request each and every generous donor from all walks of life to kindly support by donating any amount, large or small, to this virtuous project. Your generous and kind support will definitely make a positive connection with the Buddha Dharma and Sanghha earning countless of merits as the benefit will go for motherly sentient beings forever.

According to Ozer Drimid Text," A nobel son or daughter circumambulating the stupa, doing prostration, or making offerings will acquire the blessing of the Tathagata and will not be driven away from the path of unsurpassed enlightenment. Even birds and animals falling under the shadow of this Stupa will never be reborn in the lower realm. If anybody dreams, sees from afar, hear the Rinpoche and Lamas ringing bell, or hear that a stupa is being constructed; he or she will be purified of all the negative energies and defilement which also includes Five Deadly Sins. Such beings will be protected by Tathagata and will attain enlightenment.
